The English Touring Opera will be returning to work with KS2 pupils on Monday 20th April on the fun, adventure-fuelled show of Ada and the Code Crusader. The show is designed to be participatory and the children have been practising the songs and learning about the background to the story of Ada Lovelace, who was an English mathematician and writer widely recognised as the world's first computer programmer.
A Makedo blog was recently posted highlighting the amazing work of resident maker, Libertad Aguilera. Our Marner pupils have been fortunate to have worked with such a talented, creative artist who has set some wonderful projects and supported them on creating scenery and props for Marner productions.

Friends of Marner led Mr Sam’s farewell and the Eid coffee morning. They had a great turnout with a full room. It was wonderful to see so many parents attend.
There was also an amazing art session held for parents, which everyone really enjoyed. It was a lovely opportunity for the community to come together.
A massive thank you to our 'Friends of Marner'.
There are no 'After School Clubs' this week and next, although boosters for Y6 are ongoing. You will be notified individually for any clubs that begin before the 27th.
Clubs will begin again Monday 27th April. There will be an online sign-up, and we will let you know once this is open on Arbor.
Thank you
Marner’s Annual Easter bonnet parade was fabulous!
This year we celebrated with Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 classes.
The parade took place on Thursday 26th March at 2:45 pm.
‘Friends of Marner’ sold mojitos and cakes.
The children paraded around the playground. Thank you to everyone for making it a great success.
On Friday 27th March at 9am, parents are invited to celebrate EID in the outdoor meeting room. It's a chance to get creative, there will be canvas painting available and delicious food to enjoy. This is also an opportunity to say a sad farewell to our Sam Sharpe (Assistant Head) and wish him well.
Marner has been invited, through our links with Poplar Harca, to be part of the Southbank Centre's Imagine the Future Project.
Marner has been receiving books from 'The Children's Book Project' for many years, when they were a small charity. They have grown nationwide and are now distributing books for children's pleasure across the nation.
We had a fantastic Science Oracy week led by Ms Davey. It was wonderful to see pupils using their voices confidently to explain their thinking and share their scientific understanding.
The Marner Reading Challenge aims to inspire every child to develop a love of reading by engaging regularly with books at home. Families are encouraged to come into the school, where we open up our library for parents to sit and read with their children and also encourage visits to our local library (ideas store).
