Dear Marner Parents,
We’re excited to share that ‘Friends of Marner’ will be hosting our first event of the year during Parents’ Conference Day on Wednesday 11th February.
We will be running stalls with food, drinks, and snacks, and we would really appreciate any donations you may be able to offer (food, drinks, or snacks).
(Please remember that we are a nut-free school, so all donations must be nut-free.)
We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who attended our first coffee morning last week — your support means so much to us.
Thank you all for your continued support.

Coffee Mornings at Marner
Please find attached the schedules for both our whole school coffee mornings (Friday) and our SEND focus coffee mornings (Thursday).
Whole school coffee mornings are on Friday from 9 in the outside meeting room at the end of the playground. Please see the themes for each week and come along to find out more. We are always keen to find out any themes that you may want covering in the future too.
SEND coffee mornings are on a Thursday from 9 in the outside meeting room at the end of the playground. From time to time, they may happen outside of school such as in a local coffee shop, but this will be communicated.
We look forward to seeing lots of you there - it would be good to see lots of new faces this year. Please spread the word to parents who may not know about the coffee mornings.
Hope to see lots of you this Friday for the coffee morning on managing anxiety with THEWS (Tower Hamlets Educational Wellbeing Service).
Friday 6th February is 'Number Day 2026'. As everyone enjoyed it so much last year, we thought we would celebrate again by dressing up!
You can dress as your favourite number or maths symbols or something number related. Ms Nadine and Ms Woolcott will be looking for the best costumes and the class will win a collective prize. If you wish to recycle your costume from last year, go ahead!
We will also be competing in a TTRS competition with schools across the country.
Marner receives letter from Bridgit Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, praising our outcomes for disadvantaged children and putting us in the top 10% of the country.
We were visited by a team from the Department for Education on Tuesday 13th January. They were carrying out research into Twinning Schools. The team were keen to speak to children, teachers and SLT members to gather their views on whether twinning with another school would be a positive experience. They asked about twinning with schools in other countries, other parts of the UK, which subjects they would like to focus on, how meetings/sharing would take place.
The D for E were impressed with our year 5 and 6 Marner pupils, who were articulate and respectful. They gave considered opinions and asked for clarification when unsure about any points.
Marner was then invited to pilot the programme and will be focusing on Reading and will be twinning with a school in Northern Ireland.
