Inclusion

Inclusion at Marner Primary School

At Marner Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of our ethos and practice. Guided by Ready, Respectful, Safe and our values of respect, happiness, growth, hope, motivation, and community, we make sure every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to achieve their best.

We want our pupils to leave Marner as confident learners, kind and respectful individuals, and proud members of their community — ready for the next stage of education and for life beyond school.

How We Support Every Child

  • High quality teaching in every classroom – with a consistent lesson structure that includes review, scaffolding, modelling, guided practice, independent work, and reflection.

  • Targeted support when needed – small group and 1:1 interventions in reading, writing, maths and language.

  • Specialist support for complex needs – personalised programmes co-produced with parents, pupils, and external professionals.

  • Support for pupils learning English – A language-rich environment and targeted provision for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Pupil Voice

Children at Marner help shape their school:

  • Our SEND Pupil Councillors share what helps them learn, suggest improvements to trips and classrooms, and design child-friendly SEND information.

  • Impact: TBC.

Beyond the Classroom

Inclusion goes further than lessons:

  • All pupils take part in trips, clubs, and sports.

  • Pupil leadership opportunities give every child a voice.

  • Wellbeing is supported through nurture groups and mentoring.

Working Together

  • We work closely with parents as partners.

  • Staff receive regular training in scaffolding,  strategies, SEND support, and behaviour routines.

  • Leaders and governors monitor inclusion and celebrate progress every term.
