Religious Education
Marner follows the Tower Hamlets Agreed Syllabus for RE 2022-27.
At Marner Primary School, we believe that Religious Education (RE) helps pupils to understand themselves, others and the diverse world in which they live. Our RE curriculum is based on the Tower Hamlets SACRE agreed syllabus and reflects national guidance as well as the needs of our local community. Through RE, pupils learn about major world religions and world views, explore important questions about life and values and develop respect and empathy for people of all faiths and none.
RE is taught through discussion, storytelling, creative activities and enquiry-based learning. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and to express their ideas clearly and respectfully. RE at Marner supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development and promotes British Values, including tolerance, mutual respect, and individual liberty. By the time pupils leave Marner, we aim for them to be confident, curious, respectful, and well-prepared for life in modern Britain and as a global citizen.
